McMahon - Joanne (nee Kuchiak) October 8, 1937 to October 21, 2013 Surrounded by her family, Joanne passed away peacefully on October 21, 2013. Loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, all who knew her will deeply miss her and there will be a void in our lives forever. Joanne was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and had a truly happy, joyful life. At 22 she married her soul mate and shortly thereafter they moved to Vancouver where she spent the rest of her life in love with the West Coast. She leaves behind her husband Michael, children Shelly, Kim and Bob, daughter in law Jane, and the shining star in her heart- grandson Brayden. Friends were her life force and she made everyone feel special as they soaked in her love, acceptance and kindness. She was a shining beam of love that radiated and filled a room. A golfer, curler, "swim girl", avid Seawall walker and long-time member of the Hollyburn Players, Joanne always enjoyed being active and busy with her friends. Her illness slowed her down physically, but never did her spirit waiver, nor her joy of living diminish. Travelling the world with Michael filled much of Joanne's time and her open mind and acceptance of diversity made her a keen student of life and the world around her. She did not fear death and was at peace with herself. She went when she was ready and on her own terms. Her courage and strength amazed us all. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr Anderson, Dr. Hariton, Wendy- our home care nurse, and so many others at LGH for their kind support. Last, but not least we must acknowledge all her friends both old and new who supported her during her illness. A Memorial Service will he held on Wednesday 30 October, at 1:30 PM at St. Anthony's Parish Church at 2337 Inglewood Avenue, West Vancouver. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Hollyburn Country Club 950 Cross Creek Road, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, you may consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
