VOSTEEN, BERNHARD WILLIAM, age 84; of Corydon, Indiana; died Thursday, November 22, 2012. Born on October 21, 1928, in Michigan City, IN, Bernie was the second of three sons to Adolf and Berna Vosteen, first generation German immigrants. He graduated from Purdue University
in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and a Master of Science in Animal Husbandry in 1953. From 1953 to 1955 he served as a Veterinary Animal Technician in the U.S. Army. In 1958 he married Patricia Nonhof. They had two daughters, Mary and Margaret, whom they raised in Rochester. Bernie's career as a scientist spanned more than 30 years. He worked at Parke-Davis, Warner Lambert, and the inception of Immuno-U.S. Inc. until his retirement in 1993. Bernie was active in his church homes, and also active for decades in the Masonic Lodge in Rochester and Corydon. In 1980 Bernie and Margaret Kincaid Richards were married. They made Corydon their new home in 1993. Bernie is survived by his wife, Margaret; brother, Louis, of Williamsburg, VA; daughters, Mary Van Verst of Olympia, WA, and Margaret Crawford of Grand Rapids; step-sons, William "Rick" Richards of Denver, and Randolph Richards of Waterford; grandchildren, George and Mia Crawford; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia, and his older brother, Hans. A Memorial Service will be held at Corydon United Methodist Church on the Square on January 13, 2013, at 2 p.m.
