Richard C. Ecker

ECKER, RICHARD C.; age 66; of West Palm Beach FL, formerly of Sylvan Lake MI; passed away on June 1, 2013, after suffering cardiac arrest, he was in a coma, but he fought and fought outlasting all of the doctor's expectations. His loving son, sister, and ex-wife stood by his side during his final weeks. His perseverance and determination were awe-inspiring. Son of the late Richard F. Ecker and the late Doris M. Ecker; brother of the late Scott F. Ecker. Richard is survived by his son, Richard E. Ecker; his sister, Darelyn (Ecker) Kazimierczuk; ex-wife, Fran Ecker; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Richard served our country in the Navy by completing two tours in Vietnam, where he received the honor of the Purple Heart. A West Bloomfield High School Class of 1963 alumnus, Richard graduated from the University of Michigan, where he also received an MBA and then later received his law degree from Wayne State. He pursued a successful law career before running his own business. Richard had a passion for the University of Michigan and could often be heard singing "Hail to the Victors." Besides being the best grill-master, he had the biggest heart and a determination unmatched by anyone. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Military Services will be held June 17, 2013 at South Florida National Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. located at 6501 S. State, Road 7 Lake Worth, FL 33449 (Lane 3). A small private Gathering will be held after the service. Donations in Richard's name may be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (1-800-340-HERO).
