dear Family,
I loved your mother, Dee Billings. I worked with her at THS for several years. She was such a pleasure to be around. She was an extremely positive addition to our special education department. She never raised her voice and such a wonderful sense of humor! She taught me so many things about raising a family. I often think of some of the advice she shared. I incorporated it into my parenting. Dee will truly be missed. My heart is very sad.

Dear Billing Family,
Oh how I loved your mom and will miss her. Although we did not see each other often, when we talked it was as if time just disappeared. Your mom is a fond part of all my memories in the many years I spent with her as my aide in our special education room. Often, I would look over at your mom when a kid was acting up and she would be shaking her head and saying a prayer for patience for both of us. The kids loved and respected her just as much as I did. She taught them valuable lessons about hard work, sacrifice, and the importance of getting an education. Every time I eat a grilled cheese sandwich or have tomato soup I think of your mom. It was our favorite lunch to fix in the room. Among my favorite memories are planning and preparing Thanksgiving dinner for the entire THS staff and your mom slaving over the stove making sure everything was just right. Doing Christmas crafts and watching your mom getting even the most reluctant of boys to participate. Taking the kids bowling weekly and the end of the year picnic where occasionally we could convince your mom to play softball with us. I never recall hearing any of the students ever raise their voice to your mom or argue with her when they required discipline. Those past students who I occasionally see always ask about her. She did a lot of laundry and sewing for many of them. Your mom and I spent twelve years together and bonded in a very special way. Her warmth, caring and humor are memories I will carry forever with me in my heart.
There are two things I know your mom loved dearly: her family and God. She would proudly tell everyone how lucky she was to have such amazing children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. What joy and happiness all of you brought her. I am positive your mom is singing with the angels right now. I have read that "death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." May God give you strength for the days ahead and comfort in all the memories of your mother.
With deepest sympathy,
Mary McDermott
