Ivan Douglas French Obituary
FRENCH, IVAN DOUGLAS. With profound sadness, Ivan, a child of God was called home on April 5, 2013, after complications from surgeries. Ivan was born September 14, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Walter and Virginia (Moloney) French. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a radar school instructor in the UK. Ivan was an entrepreneur, founding Verstand Engineering, a Michigan machine tool design company, and later, French and Rogers, an award winning Michigan-based business-to-business advertising agency. After moving to Arizona, he founded the Galilee Fish Company, a Christian church marketing consulting firm. An avid reader and accomplished writer, he published one book entitled Reaching Seekers, and was in the process of completing another, The Discipleship Reformation. His passion was to reach the unchurched and to bring them to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He helped plant new churches all over the U.S. His two sons, Michael and Alan, preceded Ivan in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; children, Carol (Steve) Kulcher, Walter (Kathy) French, and Mary McLaughlin; step-children, David (Robin) Kruger, Lori (Tom) Diab, Katherine (David) Knott; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Memorial Service for Ivan will be Friday, July 26, 2013, 1 p.m. at Kensington Community Church, 1825 East Square Lake Rd, Troy, MI 48085. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Kensington Community Church, c/o Ivan's Memorial.
