James McMullen Obituary
McMullen, James M.; age 91; of Gladwin, Michigan (formerly of Birmingham and Prudenville) passed away at the Gladwin Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre on Friday, May 2, 2014. He was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1922, the son of Harvey and Gertrude (Rievel) McMullen. In 1944, he married Margaret “Peg” Brandle in Johnstown, and they shared 57 years together before she predeceased him in 2001. James proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed as an Electrician for General Motors Pontiac Division. Jim was actively involved in the community, serving as Fire Chief for Nester Township, a member of the Knights of Columbus at Sacred Heart Parish in Gladwin, as well as a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He loved to share his passion for nature and the outdoors and passed it on to his family. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Lois (Karl) Kaupa of Hendersonville, North Carolina; son, James H. (Gwen) McMullen of Plymouth; daughter, Colleen (Dave) Bonham of Gladwin; son, Bill (Nancy) McMullen of McKinney, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; 3 brothers and 6 sisters. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made the Donor’s in Memory of Jim.
