Joseph Bono Obituary
Bono, Joseph; completed his earthly mission June 9, 2014, and is now looking down upon the good work he performed. Joe will be remembered as a caring father and husband, who always made sure family was his top priority. His wife, Claire was the center of his world since they met in December 1956 and they celebrated their love throughout 56 years of marriage. Joe was well known for his work ethic and joy of life, which he passed on to his 7 children and 20 grandchildren. Their accomplishments brought him unequaled pride. Joe received the Martin Luther King Award for making the world a better place though his volunteer work, ranging from the Knights of Columbus and the St. Mary’s of the Hills Homeless Shelter, to coaching his children’s baseball and football teams. He will live on in his family and friends thoughts and deeds. Joe, age 81, lived in Rochester Hills, formerly in Sterling Heights and Warren and was a dedicated General Motors worker and retiree. He was the father of Claire Bono (Ben Mogill), Charles (Christa) Bono, John Bono, James (Denise) Bono, Steven (Debbie) Bono, and Catherine (Dennis) Keppers, and the late Joseph (Gina) Bono. He was the cherished grandfather of Augusta, Christopher, Tristan, Adam, Andrea, Alyson, Hannah, Miranda, Madison, Sydney, Caelyn, Nicholas, Erica, Katelyn, Melissa, Taylor, Michelle, Noah, Austin, and Julie; brother of the late Saverio and Marie. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 11 a.m. with an In State time of 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, 2675 John R. Road, Rochester Hills. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 5 p.m. at the Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd., Rochester.
