William H. ""Bill"" Parker Jr. Obituary
PARKER, WILLIAM "Bill" H., Jr.; age 87; of Rochester Hills; passed away August 3, 2013. Bill was the loving husband of Barbara and celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 17, 2013; dear father of J. Michael (Carol) Parker, Karen Parker, Diane (Floyd) Warstler, Terri (Gerald) Rhadigan, and the late Gregory Parker; cherished grandfather of Don, Megan, Chelsea, Lauren, Hannah, Bryan, Gabriel, Julia, Sophie, and Casey; great grandfather of Corban, Harper, and Jude; brother of Jay (Pat) Parker. Bill was born in Moundsville, WV, to William, Sr. and Cora Parker. Bill graduated from Moundsville High School 1941 and in July entered Lafayette College in Easton, PA until his 18 birthday, when he enlisted in the U.S. Merchant Marines as a Cadet, serving three years as Ship's Radio Officer in both the Atlantic and Pacific War Zones. He returned to Lafayette College and studied Mechanical Engineering. In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for 4 years, serving with the 1st Marine Division at the "Punchbowl", Seoul and Panmunjom during the Korean War. Bill was employed with RCA Corporation in PA and IBM Corporation in PA and MI. In 1953, his first field assignment for IBM was in Lansing, MI for Michigan State University. In 1956, Bill and his wife, Barbara moved to Rochester Hills. He retired from IBM in 1987 after 34 years of service. Bill was a member of B.P.O.Elks #282 in Moundsville, WV and was charter member #7 of Rochester B.P.O.Elks #2225. He was a Past Exalted Ruler and served often as a ritual judge, coach and mentor. In 1968, Bill was sworn in as District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. He remained actively involved in the Elks throughout his life. At Bill's request, no public Services will be held.
