STEINER WESTERGAARD, ELEANOR AUGUSTA WINIFRED; born in Detroit, on January 3, 1923, to Frederick and Lillian (Lanstra) Steiner; peacefully passed into God's hands from her home in Rochester on March 10, 2013. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, George R. Westergaard. Dear mother of Linda Legel, George Roger (Terry) Westergaard, Tom (Holly) Westergaard, John (Lane) Westergaard, Andy (Tricia) Westergaard, and Lisa (Tom) Hubbard; dearest sister to Carol (Bill) Dick, Bob (Alice) Steiner, and the late Fred (Betty) Steiner. She had 14 grand children; 5 great grand children; and many more family and friends. Eleanor married George in 1943, in Detroit, and moved to Rochester in 1968. After more than 49 years of marriage, George passed away in 1992. Eleanor worked in the Rochester Community Schools cafeteria system for 17 years. She served as president of the Rochester Cafeteria Association union. "Ms Eleanor," as she was fondly called, is remembered for her famous peanut butter cups and cinnamon rolls. She was a founding member of Living Word Lutheran Church. Throughout life, Eleanor was an optimistic and patriotic lady who expressed her individualism with a quirky fashion style whether bowling or at a concert with the OPC's Prime Time Singles. She will be dearly missed. Funeral Service Tuesday, March 19, 2013, 10 a.m. at Living Word Lutheran Church, 3838 N. Rochester Rd., Rochester. The family will receive friends Monday 3 to 8 p.m. at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home, 339 Walnut Blvd., Rochester. Interment Oakview Cemetery.
