Harriet Ryan Obituary

RYAN, HARRIET; formerly of Warren; "Hallie" was born in Dublin, Ireland September 30, 1921 and passed away at home in Lake Orion April 20, 2013. Loving mother of Eileen, Linda and Mary and "Honorary Mother" to her niece, Sue. Beloved grandmother of Michael, Maureen, Andrew, Brendan and Ciaron; dear great randmother of 11 and great great grandmother of 2. Beloved sister of Moira Conroy and Chris Conroy of L.A. Hallie was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ryan; her brothers, Jim and Rick Conroy; and her sister, Cindy Conroy. She received her MSN from Wayne State University in 1976 and taught nursing at WCCC for 20 years where she was much-loved by her many students. She loved children and would spent hours knitting gifts for babies. She enjoyed reading Dickens, Shakespeare and Hugo and adored her pet Yorkies. Hallie had a beautiful singing voice and often sang for Nursing Home residents with the Church Street Singers. She had a brilliant sense of humor and a heart of gold that brought joy and kindness to many. A Celebration of her Life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Road, Lake Orion, followed by a Remembrance Gathering and luncheon at 11 a.m. in Marion Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is organizing a scholarship for nursing students in her name, or donations can be made to the Children's Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Mary, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I have nice memories of her though I only met her a few times. I know she was a wonderful woman because she raised a wonderful daughter. God Bless you and your family as you go through this difficult time.
