McCURDY, JOYCE Z.; "Joy"; of Waterford; August 16, 2012; age 82; preceded in death by her husband Eugene "Gene", parents Daniel and Helen Tosich; and infant son Mark; Mother of David (Amy) and Kathryn "Ms. M"; dear friend/ like a mother to Marcy (Scott) Sawyer; grandmother of Ryan; sister of Mikki Kraushaar; sister-in-law of Betty (Vern) Way and Marie (Les) Patterson; aunt of Suzanne Laughran and the late Vicki Guzak; great aunt of Lindsey and Joshua Goetzmann, Will & Michael Laughran. Joy was a graduate of Wayne State University. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and a member of the Altar Guild, National and Michigan Education Associations, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Alpha Delta Kappa Sororities. She enjoyed interior decorating, gardening, scrapbooking and shopping. She collected dolls, angels and antiques. One of her pleasures in life was watching her grandson Ryan play hockey. She loved her Siberian husky, Honcho. Joy retired from Clarkston Community Schools after 37 years of teaching elementary, which she loved. Funeral Service, Tuesday 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Waterford where friends may visit directly at the church at 10 a.m until time of service. Interment Ottawa Park Cemetery.
