Rachel Henahan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 23 to Feb. 24, 2015.
Henahan, Rachel (Nacianceno); left this world too early on February 21, 2015 surrounded by her family; at her home in Katy, TX after a courageous battle with cancer and Takayasu’s Arteritis. Born November 29, 1980 in Pontiac, Michigan, this beautiful wife and mother of two grew up in Pontiac, MI and graduated from Notre Dame Prep High School in 1998. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in 2003, during which time she was active in her sorority (Sigma Kappa). Rachel was an avid cook, crafter, stamper, jewelry maker, homemaker, and most importantly, loving mother. She lived to take care of her family, and her greatest joy was her children. Often described as a “mother to all”, she will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Joe; and her grandfather, Rosalio. She is survived by her husband, James; children, James and Arelia; mother, Robin; brothers, Drew, Ricky, and Joey; sisters, Marissa, Lacey, Destiny, and Katie; grandmothers, Carolina and Wilma; step-father, Rick; parents-in-law, Jim, Renee, and John; and a wealth of cousins and friends. Services will be held at CrossPoint Community Church in Katy, TX at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Additional services will be held at It’s a Matter of Taste in Commerce, Michigan at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 7, 2015. There are no words to express the pain of losing Rachel. She married my son and gave me 2 beautiful grandchildren. Robin, I know how much I love her, I cannot imagine how you feel. May God give you comfort and peace in knowing that your beautiful daughter blessed so many lives. What a testimony to you in your raising up such a beautiful soul. I will continue to keep you and all of the family in my thoughts and prayers.

There are no words. Robin I'm praying for you and for all your family. When I met her I thought she is as lovely as her mom and her laughter was just like yours Sweet and soft. If you need anything just know that all your friends are here waiting to do anything for you and the family.

I was so very sad to hear of Rachel's death. My deepest sympathies go out to her entire family and especially to you, James, and your children. I will never forget Rachel as a teenager: pretty, spunky, smart and fun. She was one of my all-time favorite students. What a terrible loss for all who knew and loved her!

So saddened by the loss of an old friend that I was able to reconnect with. Rachel will always be a reminder to me on how precious life is and no matter what happens a positive attitude is everything. I kept up with her posts this past year on Facebook and admired how positive she remained dealing with everything. Always an inspiration. My heart goes out to James, the kids and all of Rachel's family and friends. I know what a great woman she was.

I never met Rachel in person, and did not know her well, but she definitely made a lasting impact on me. I belong to one of the same Facebook groups that Rachel did, and she never held back sharing her journey with us. Her courage and determination in fighting her cancer very much reminded me of a close friend I lost a few years ago. I regularly kept her in my prayers and made sure to tell her so. I will now pray for her family and close friends, who must be missing her terribly. The extent to which she is missed in the group, when most of us didn't even know her personally, is a real testament to her character; and I know that her light will continue to shine.

Robin ,words can't express what your going through right now ... Just want you to know my thoughts and prayers are with you and her family !! Its never easy losing a child no matter how old they are. She was a beautiful young lady. Her memory will live on through her children and I pray all of you will get some comfort in knowing that she's not suffering any more and is in a better place. Rachel I remember our conversations when you were in high school at the back table at Tenutas. I could tell then that you were wise beyond your years. You have touched and inspired so many people with your time here. You have done more in such a short time than many have done in an entire lifetime. I like many others have read about you journey and courageous battle with Cancer and was deeply saddened when I learned you had left us. You have left your mark here on earth and inspired others to fight with all they have to beat this disease. Rest in Peace lovely lady. Robin, my friend, there is no greater loss than the loss of a child....you have fought this battle with you lovely daughter with such grace and dignity, my condolences to you and your lovely family. She will surely be missed

As I sit here in this quite room I think of all the good times we had growing up. Where the years have went I'll never know I was so proud of you going off to college. Later marrying your high school sweetheart was something I thought was very special. I loved your sense of humor and your laugh was just like Aunt Robins. It's difficult to comprehend what's transpired these past few days Rach I'll miss you. You were my favorite cousin the stories of our fathers we shared coneys at Super Chief we loved. R.I.P forever in my heart....

I only knew Rachel online, for a short time, in our little group of Goldies (shopping!!) but she was a joy, a light, and had such a sense of humor. There are about 3000 women who are mourning the loss of Rachel right now in that group... sending love, warmth, and all the prayers we can muster for her kids and family.
