George P. Fedorka Obituary
FEDORKA, GEORGE; age 86; of Wixom was born March 31, 1927 in Avella, PA. He died on May 23, 2013. He was a loving husband to Irene (Ceresa); a devoted father to Michael and Debbie Fedorka, Robert and Kathy Fedorka, Kathleen and Enrico Digirolamo, Marybeth and William St. John and Thomas and Suzanne Fedorka; he is also survived by 13 grandchildren and a brother Edward. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Standish, Margaret Mika, Beatrice Kramer, and Helen Bebernick. George graduated from Burgettstown High School and served in the Navy during World War II. He later drove an 18 wheeler before becoming a police officer for the City of Detroit in 1955, retiring from the department at the rank of Detective Sergeant in 1986 and receiving many citations for heroism during his career. He served the city for 12 years in the Department's Armed Robbery-Major Thefts Bureau during which time he, and his partner, Wilbur Christopher, held one of the highest conviction rates in the department. The two remained close friends throughout the years. Following his retirement he and Irene traveled Europe and spent the winters in Florida and Arizona. Always an avid golfer, George worked an additional 30 years at the golf courses of both Kensington and Indian Springs Metro Parks and routinely shot his age. Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 340 Pontiac Trail, Walled Lake, on Tuesday May 28, 2013 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Mass will be at Our Lady of Victory Parish, Northville on Wednesday May 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. In Lieu of flowers memorials to Angela Hospice.
