John Henry Moorman(1914 - 2013)

John Henry Moorman, 98, of Oberlin, died Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Amherst Manor Retirement Community.
He was born Nov. 18, 1914, in South Connellsville, Pa.
He was a graduate of Canton McKinley High, Ohio State University, and held a master of management degree from Case Western Reserve University.
John worked for American Standard, Tappan, and Smith-Jones in Elyria as an industrial engineer.
John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater from 1942 to 1945.
He was a member of Parkside Masonic Lodge, Al Koran Shrine Temple, a 38 year member of Oberlin Golf Club, and belonged to First Church of Oberlin.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, hunting, and swimming.
Survivors include his son, Michael (Frances) Moorman of Oberlin; daughter, Molly Harwood of Long Meadow, Mass.; and three grandchildren and two great=-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Mabel Moorman; and sister, Mary Greenho.
Gravide services were held Tuesday, June 25 at Westwood Cemetery with full military honors by Post 1079 of Elyria. They were followed by a memorial service at First Church of Oberlin with the Rev. David Hill officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church of Oberlin.
