Charles L. Berg, 93, of Henrietta, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at New Life Hospice in Lorain.
He was born July 17, 1919, in Henrietta Township and lived here his entire life. He graduated from Henrietta High School in 1937.
He was a life long farmer and dairyman. He served as Henrietta township clerk for 24 years, was a member of the Lorain County Farm Bureau, and was a 50-year member of the Grange. He was a life-long member of the Henrietta United Church of Christ where he served as elder and deacon for many years and sang in the choir.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, and was an avid sports fan of Ohio State University and Cleveland sports teams.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Idabelle (Peabody); brothers Ralph Berg and Earl (Geraldine) Berg of Henrietta; nieces Grace (Rev. Randall) Gehres, of Orville, Ohio, Ruth Anne (Kenneth) Searles of Dafter, Mich., and Jennifer (Brent) Westover of Vermilion; a godchild, Lois Logan of Henrietta; brother-in-law Glen Gerstacker of Henrietta; and sister-in-law Vivian Peabody of Oberlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary (Heidrich) Berg; and his sister, Kathryn Gerstacker.
Services were held Nov. 7 at Morman Funeral Home in Wakeman with pastor Paul Eaton of the Henrietta United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was at Birmingham Cemetery.
