OBERLIN — Charlotte Nelson Collins of Oberlin and formerly of Melbourne Beach, Fla., died March 26, 2014, at Kendal at Oberlin, where she resided since 2000.
She was born in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), where she met her husband Bob and they were married after graduation.
She is survived by two children and four grandchildren. Charlotte involved herself in school activities, church, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and when the children entered high school, she worked as attendance administrator at their school and took nature courses at Morton's Arboretum in Lyle, Ill.. After the children were on their own, Bob and Charlotte traveled to Europe, Scandinavia, Hawaii, the South Pacific, Australia, and New Zealand. Charlotte was a Cub Scout den mother and all around "outdoors girl" and enjoyed hiking, bird watching, reading, knitting, embroidering, and traveling.
A celebration of Charlotte's life will be Tuesday, May 6 at 10:45 a.m. in the Whittier Lounge at Kendal at Oberlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charlotte's name may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 9775 Rockside Rd., Suite 270, Valley View, OH 44125.
