Scott Gregory Cole Scott Gregory Cole passed away from cancer in Lacey, Washington on Friday, December 6, 2013, 2:00 a.m., at the age of 56. He would have turned 57 on January 10. Scott is predeceased by mother, June Horrell Cole. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Phyllis Thiroux Cole. They were married in Las Vegas on September 22, 1984. Scott is lovingly remembered by his father, Lt. Col. Roscoe E. Cole USM (Ret.) of Eugene, Oregon; sister, Patti June Fort of Springfield, Oregon; and brother, Warren Roscoe Cole of Portland, Oregon. Scott's children include Jeremy David Cole, who was from his first marriage to Katrina Jessup Dunn, and Jenessa Rhiannon Cole and Byron Thomas Cole from his marriage to Phyllis. Scott's nieces and nephews include: Katie Fort Rutherford, Jeff Fort, Emily Fort, Sarah Cole, Matthew Cole, and Jason Cole. Scott was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 10, 1957. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1975 and went into the military directly out of high school. Scott served in the US Navy as a Submariner from 1975 to 1995, retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. After his military retirement, Scott worked as a Database Administrator/ Institutional Researcher for Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, Oregon and Saint Martin's University in Lacey, Washington. Scott enjoyed reading, hiking, camping, and playing with his beloved dogs. The service of remembrance will be held at the South Sound Manor, 455 North St. SE, Tumwater, Washington, on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service. Full military burial to follow at Willamette National Cemetery at 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd. in Portland, Oregon on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. Condolences for the family may be offered online at: www.FuneralAlternatives.org.
