He was born November 14, 1946 to Glyndell and Evelyn (Horn) Hambrick in Santa Rosa, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, David Weeks. Glenn graduated from Analy Union High School, Sebastopol, CA, in 1964 and entered military service in the US Air Force that summer. While stationed at McChord Airforce Base in August 1965, he met Judith Ann Weaver, the love of his life, at the Evergreen Ballroom. They married three years later on August 25, 1968, celebrating 44 years of matrimony in 2012. Glenn was a Sergeant in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive of 1968, and was honorably discharged later that year. Upon returning to the US, he and Judi settled in Tumwater, WA. His career included working as a surveyor for the Washington State Dept of Natural Resources and several positions with the Dept of Transportation, where he retired as the Prequalification Engineer for Contract Administration and Award in July 1996. Glenn was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed backpacking and camping in the Olympics. He loved to fish the Cowlitz River, especially when Steelhead were running, as well as the Deschutes River and Porter Creek for rainbows. As a young man, he often hunted alongside Judi's father Orin and brother Duane. Glenn attended WSU, Clark College and Centralia Community College before graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Evergreen State College in 1992. For Glenn, no one was a stranger for long. His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July, during which he enjoyed days grilling with family and friends, and nights filled with fireworks. In retirement, Glenn enjoyed travels with his wife, including trips to Europe and Mexico, and Nicaragua to visit their son wile he served in the Peace Corps. Glenn is survived by his wife Judi of Tumwater, and his son Mark of Phoenix, AZ. Judi,
So sad to hear of my friend Glenn's passing. Really enjoyed my time with him at WSDOT. I remember the time he spent over at my house helping me "log some trees", the proverbial blind leading the blind; was great fun. Since we both retired, the only time I saw Glenn was when we'd run into each other at the grocery store, or some such place. I'd say, "How you doing Glenn?" And he'd go into 10 minutes of letting me know how you and Mark were doing. He was just so proud of his family. Really proud. You were his life. You and Mark. And while I won't be able to accidentally run into my old friend anymore, we can't even begin to imagine what you are now going through without Glenn. You're in our thoughts and prayers Judi.
P.S.
And just like you two, my wife and I also met at the old Evergreen Ballroom...while I was in the Air Force stationed at McChord.

I'm sorry to hear about Glenn's passing. I worked with him years ago at WSDOT when I was an attorney advising the pre-contract office. I enjoyed working with Glenn. He had a lot of expertise, which I learned from. He also was a warm and friendly person with a great sense of humor. I'm sorry for your family's loss.

Betty and I were very sorry to hear of the passing of the love of your life. I didn't know Glenn well at all. But I remember my Dad saying how well he liked Glenn. If I remember correctly, many years ago, you and Glenn rented a duplex from my Mom and Dad. Dad often said what a nice guy Glenn was.
Our love to you Judy in this painful time.

Glenn was such a wonderful man. We met as neighbors down the fence and Turk knew him before that from working at DOT.
Our boys Marcus and Matt were so impressed with his love of fireworks. In fact all of you were into the 4th of July and we were lucky enough to spend several of those holidays with you all.
I had many lengthy conversations with Glenn in the grocery store that were very enlightening.
Glenn took our son Matt on a field trip to NW Trek once and we put that picture in his graduation video years later.
We sure will miss Glenn and his commentary on a variety of subjects. Sure hope the pond is well stocked up there buddy. Turk,Jackie,Marcus and Matt Sledge

Dear Judi and Mark,
Betty and I were saddened to hear the news of Glenn's passing. We have such fond memories of our days in Olympia with the ole gang from Trinity. time marches on and things change as we grow up, but our memories are always there for us. Treasure those memories now as Glenn's gift to you both. I am often reminded of a comment the Martin Luther made when he lost his young daughter suddenly - "We often think that there is death in life when in fact there is life in death." This is the promise we have as Christians. Hold on to it at this time. Our love, Bill and Betty Morse

Dear Judy , my sincere condolences to you and your family. I will always remember Glenn's "spirited" conversation with contractors and business partners as he was residing in an office adjacent to me on the D wing - but those walls were like paper when his booming voice came across telling contractors in no uncertain ways (and words) where to go. We often exchanged a laugh and I really appreciated his kindness towards me as a new employee, trying to find my away around the agency. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Daniela Bremmer-WSDOT

Judi and Mark, I was shocked to hear about Glenn's passing…please accept my condolence. Judi and Mark, Glenn was very proud of both of you. He had nothing but praises for what both of you have achieved in life. You both were his life.
Down the memory lane with Glenn….one particular memory I have while Glenn was my supervisor in Prequalification, was when we were in Wenatchee….he was the one that notified me that I had a Grandson, born on the 11th of July 1991. During the 7 years I worked under his supervision in Prequalification, Glenn revealed a person of integrity and complete dedication of his responsibility as Prequalification Engineer. He was willing to go to the extra mile to assist contractors in getting prequalified, but, he wouldn't hesitate to deny those that didn't meet the required standards as established by Law. When I first got to work for Glenn, I didn't know anything about highway construction. However, after 7 years and through his knowledge and ability to teach, I learned a lot. Glenn was the expert. No one knew Prequalification as well as he did…Prequalification is his legacy. I'll always cherish the years that we worked together in Prequalification and the many trips we went on together in support of Prequalification. May God Bless and comfort both of you of your loss.
