Barbara B. Dolliver

Barbara B. Dolliver Barbara Dolliver, born Barbara Jean Babcock on January 28, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts, died at her Olympia residence on July 10, 2013. Barbara, the wife of former Washington State Supreme Court Justice, James M. Dolliver who preceded her in death, is survived by her six children: Beth, James, Peter, Keith, Jennifer and Nancy, as well as her five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Barbara graduated with high honors in English from Swarthmore College in 1948, and she and her husband married that same year, in December 1948. Barbara was a resident of Olympia for over 45 years. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Barbara was a gifted poet and published author. She taught English at South Puget Sound Community College and Centralia junior College. She was also active in her church and the community, serving two terms on the Washington Commission for the Humanities. Barbara was greatly loved by her family and friends, and will be missed. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 28 at 3:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Olympia.
