Charles Stratton

Charles W. Stratton 10/16/1922 - 8/12/2013 Charles Wayne Stratton, known as Wayne, was born on October 16, 1922 in S. D., passed away on August 12, 2013 in an assisted care home in Lacey, Washington He was 90, and died peacefully in his sleep. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Brenda Louise, and by his great-granddaughter Hanna Marie Potter. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Stratton, two daughters, Georgie and Pam; five grandchildren, Kyle, Kevan, Kyla, Aaron, and Mandy; 3 step-children; 11 great-grandchildren; and 7 siblings , Virginia, Paul, Norma Leigh, Robert, Stanley, George, and Eddie. Wayne graduated from high school in MO and in 1943 entered the Coast Guard. He served aboard the Mojave, an escort ship for navel ships crossing from the US to Greenland during WWII. He was married to Marguerite (Jerman) Stratton for 25 years. The family moved to WA in Dec. 1953. There he apprenticed as a meat-cutter and in Jan. 1956 moved the family to Olympia and worked as a meat-cutter for the next 25 years. In 1973 he married Elizabeth Fox. Wayne loved horses and dogs. He raised and rode his horses and owned a championship Tennessee Walking horse. A graveside service will be held at the Forest Funeral Home on Pacific at 10:00 am on Friday, August 16, 2013. Reception to follow at The Sequoia on Lilly Rd in Olympia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the in Wayne's honor.
