Henry G. Leerkamp

Henry G. Leerkamp Henry "Hank" Leerkamp passed away on July 18, 2014, at St. Peter Hospital. Hank was born on June 18, 1921, in Chester, MN. He joined the army in 1939. He was in Europe and the South Pacific during WWll. During the Korean War he was captured and was a POW for 37 months until August, 1953. He retired from the army as a Master Sargent in 1960 and then went to work at the VA Hospital in Lakewood as a nursing assistant. He was also a fire captain in the early days of the Lacey Fire Department. Hank was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Patricia. He is survived by a son, Stan (Carol); daughter, Linda (Mike); two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. There will be no service. Mills and Mills will arrange for Hank to be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery with full military honors at a future date.
