Eugene Arthur Rohner
May 3, 1924 - Feb 11, 2011

Eugene 'Gene' Rohner, 86, died February 11, 2011 in Olympia. He was born May 3, 1924 to Edward and Hattie Rohner in Minnesota Lake, Minn., where he grew up.
Gene moved to Seattle for the WWII effort. He met Eileen 'Reggy' Livingston in Seattle and they married in Oceanside, Calif. He served with honor and distinction as a 5th Div. Marine, seeing action on Iwo Jima. He enlisted in the Army, retiring twenty years later as a Major. He worked as a Regional Director of Washington State Parks for 17 years, retiring to enjoy fishing and RVing.
Survivors include his wife, Reggy; brother, Dean; children, John (Lynn), Allen, Bonny Burgin (Terry), Marie Hurst and son-in-law Curtis Hurst; grandchildren, Condee Wood (Keegan), Sage Holbrook (Natalie), Ryan Hurst, Julie Rohner, Andrew Hurst and Randi Barrett; and four great-grand-children, Cole, Jakob, Alexia, and Caden.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Newman; brothers, Myrle and Robert; and beloved daughter, Cheryl Barrett.
Memorial services and VA Honor Guard ceremony to be held February 19, 2011 at 10:00 am, Floral Hills Funeral Home.
