Louise Massingham Obituary

Louise Massingham

Louise Massingham of Tumwater, WA, passed away surrounded by family on April 23, 2011, after a battle with cancer. Louise was born as the youngest of ten in Avoca, Iowa on August 25, 1944 to William and Myrtle (Bittle) Walker. Louise graduated from Centralia High School in 1962. During high school, she met Eugene Massingham of Adna, WA. They were married on March 23, 1964. He preceded her in death in 2009. They happily made a life and raised two kids on their small farm in Thurston County.
Louise set an example of hard work, education, and community service to her kids. She helped run the family log trucking business and went back to college to earn a degree. She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and sport fishing.
Louise is survived by her daughter Teresa Massingham of Seattle; her son, Dennis Massingham, his wife Tammy and their son Ryan of Eagle River, AK; and extended family.
Services will be held at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tum-water, WA on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

My name is Nisha Mathson and I am a friend of Karen Belanich's. Through her email for a prayer request, I got to understand the relationship between her and Teresa and Louise. I would like to say that at least Louise is no longer in pain. I have been praying or her through her battle and for Teresa as well. Please find strength in the fact that you're not alone through this transition time Teresa. Right now it is hard not to shed a tear, but it is in you that your mother lives. Find comfort in that and the memories she left behind. God bless you...

Not only did we lose such a beautiful woman, we lost the best lemon meringue pie baker, green thumbed gardener and animal lover extraordinaire. Louise, you are missed; yet knowing you’re at peace, with Gene, brings such comfort. Watch down over us and keep us safe, as we think of and remember you.

Teresa, my heart goes out to you. I am so sorry I’m out on the east coast and not there with you during this time. Please know you’re in my thoughts and continually have been and will be in my prayers. Your mom was such a wonderful woman. I wish I had the chance to see her and laugh with her one more time. I’m so grateful I was able to talk with her last week; she made me laugh so hard – her quick wittedness was one of a kind! I won’t forget the time she took me to Olympia last year and showed me around where she worked along with all the great stories she told about her life working at the capital! She was such a strong woman, who endured so much in her lifetime. Such a beautiful woman and so greatly missed. Although I won’t physically be there Saturday, I will be there in spirit.

With love,
xoxo,

I loved Louise. She was such a wonderful, full-of-life girl, always smiling and positive ... and strong. She was my friend. I only regret that we didn't get to know each other better, sooner. I will miss her greatly, and am a better person for knowing her.

I remember Mrs. Massingham as our playground aide at Littlerock Elementary in the 1970's! So sorry to hear of her passing, and my thoughts go out to her children..
