Mary Hurd Obituary

Mary Jeanne Hurd
June 26, 1926 to
February 28, 2011

Mary was born in Tumwater graduating from Olympia High School. She served many years at DNR were she later retired. Prior to her working for DNR, her and her first husband, Charles Jones were prominent business owners in Tumwater.
She was one of three children born to the late Edythe and Charles Rutan. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, and sister; two husbands, Lester McQueen and Robert Hurd; and grandson, Robert Meadors.
She will be remembered by her five children, Sharon Osborn, Richard Jones, Crystal Nolet, Darlene Anderson and Lawrence Jones; and step daughter, Vicki Ulery; her 25 grandchildren; brother-in-law, Duane Bacchetti; her niece, and her four children; along with countless other family and friends.
Mary was one of the original members of the South Union Church of God and was proud of her relationship with her Church, walking each and every day with God by her side. She loved to work outside. Her flower and vegetable gardens were her pride and joy. Mary's favorite flower was dahlias. She planted hundreds each year, making beautiful arrangements for family, friends and for her Church. She loved baseball and could never miss a Mariners game. She had a heart stopping sense of humor and cherished each and every second with her family.
Mary touched the lives of so many people in our community. She will be truly missed by all. We ask that you cry only tears of joy as we celebrate her life and celebrate that she has gone home to be with the Lord.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at South Union Church of God, 10026 Tilley Rd., Olympia, at 1:00 pm with viewing at 12:00 pm.

How do you sum up the last 42 years of your life to describe the Grandma/Mom she was? There are too many memories to begin to share. Your laughter, corky sense of humor and your willingness to be playfully harassed will never be forgotten. Grandma, I will miss you every single day until I see you again! I know you are lovin your new home! Love you more than words can say!!! Sofe
