Anne M. Caldwell, 98, peacefully passed away at home in Centralia, WA on April 1, 2011, with her family by her side. She was born February 9, 1913 in Butte, MT to Clara Marie (Steinborn) Fox and Edward Fox. After Edward's death, Clara married Louis R. Anne graduated from Butte High School 1930, attended the Montana School of Mines and graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of Washington in 1935 with a degree in romance languages and math. In May 1935 she married Howard Eason Caldwell from Bothell, WA, a pharmacy grad from WSU. They lived in Auburn, Tacoma, and Chehalis before settling in Cent-ralia, WA. In 1943 Eas and Louis Kilberer purchased Young Drugs (later Caldwell Drug) in Centralia. She also lived in West Olympia for a five years.
She is survived by a loving family: sons, Louis (Sue) Caldwell, Lk. Tapps/Phoenix; and Mark (Sylvia) Caldwell, Lacey; daughter, Carol (Duane) Lewellen, Lynn-wood; and niece, Dr. Elaine Wilson, Oklahoma. She was the proud Grammy to Ray (Heather) Caldwell, Seattle, Karen Caldwell, McCleary, Nancy Foley, Ireland, Laura Caldwell, Seattle, and Evan Lewellen, Lynnwood. Anne was very proud of her 6 great-grandchildren, Sylver, Ronan, and Sofia Foley and Usha and Krina Caldwell. She was also close to her first daughters in law, Mary Lacey and Susie Mahoney. Anne also leaves her very close friends, Metta and Phillip Wickstrom and Frank and Ann Rosa.
Anne was best known for her hundreds of hours spent volunteering in the community, county and state. She was very active at St. John's Episcopal Church in Centralia. Anne helped found the Evergreen Playhouse, volunteered thousands of hours at Cent-ralia General Hospital/ Providence Hospital Centralia. She was the first woman elected to the Centralia Chamber of Commerce Board in the '60s. She felt strongly about education and chaired bond and levy campaigns for the Centralia School District. Anne sat on the first board of Directors for Centralia College, then later the WA State Board of Directors for Community Colleges. She volunteered to help prepare teens for jobs by conducting mock interviews in the high schools. Her last board duty was as a member of Providence Hospital Centralia.
While doing all that volunteering, she also found lots of time to travel to places such as China's Great Wall and Greece's Acropolis, act in and direct plays at the Evergreen Playhouse, knit, play bridge, read books, work crossword puzzles and spend time with her grandchildren.
Ann had a great sense of humor that she kept until the end. Thanks go to all the special caregivers at Colonial Residence, her friends from St. Timothy Episcopal Church, Assured Home Health Hospice, and all her other friends in Centralia.
A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher's Community (Episcopal) Church, 7902 Steamboat Island Road NW, Olympia, WA 98502 on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 1:00pm, reception to follow.

Carol, Mark and Louis,
Have known your family 60 years. Spent many a fun Saturday at the Caldwell's and at St. John's on Sunday.
Your mom was always there trying to get us to do something constructive, but, Carol and I had different plans!
Cherish the time you had with this awsome lady!
