Bernadine Chattick Obituary

Bernadine Marie Chattick

She entered our world as the daughter of Ray and Betty Blain at 1:43 a.m., December 23, 1947. She returned to her creator at 7:38 p.m., May 5, 2011 as the Matriarch of the Michael and Bernadine Chattick family. A longtime resident of Olympia most of her friends and acquaintances likely met her over a retail arts and crafts or fabric counter as she chose her lifelong hobby as an occupation. As her health declined she took a position as greeter at a large outlet; not looking at it as a demotion but as a positive outlet for her love of people and where her "Welcome" was not management forced but truly genuine. Her occupation kept her in Olympia but her "Home" was always among the Grays River, Rosburg, Deep River, and Naselle Valleys where her mother, Betty and two brothers, Ed and Greg Blain still reside. Her sister Julie Tierney's family reside in Longview, WA.
Among those valleys she grew from a girl child into womanhood; attending Rosburg Grade and Naselle Grays River Valley High School. It was there she met, married her husband, Michael, and had three sons: Michael, Shawn and Brent Chattick. She was further blessed with eight, soon to be a great, grand children all of whom live along both sides of the Lower Columbia River from Hillsboro, OR through Longview, WA and down river to Astoria, OR.
Locally she leaves behind her brother's and sister's families: Jeff and Cindy Blain and Dave and Robin Stanley. She will be missed greatly by many nephews, nieces, friends and acquaintances and all the words one can find matter not except for one that best defines her Being, and that is LOVE.
There will be no services. There will be a family and friends gathering to express her joy of life later this year. There's a place that I travel
when I want to roam
and nobody knows it but me
The roads don't go there and the signs stay home
and nobody knows but me
It's far far away
and way way afar
It's over the moon and the sea
and wherever you're going
that whereever you are
and nobody knows but me.

Mike & family-Ron & I remember the good times at Grisdale & Bernadine's forever happy laugh. The kids spent lots of time at our house. Many fun times with you all, especially at the grass hills sledding, with bonfires, chili & the forever whiskey bottle for the guys. Angee & Josh had just really started to love her & will miss her dearly.
