Christine Clishe Obituary

Christine Clishe

Christine Clishe, a lifelong resident of Olympia, died April 28, 2011 at Providence St. Peter Hospital, Olympia. She was born in Olympia on December 24, 1941, to George Kermit and Dorothy Evelyn Steere Clishe, the first of their five children. She was the granddaughter of Tallman Cairns and Hazel Barker Steere of Olympia and Edward Joseph and Taya Ogren Clishe of DuPont.
Christine attended Lacey Grade School, Roosevelt Elementary, Washington Junior High, and graduated from Olympia High School in 1960. She attended Willamette University, Salem, Oregon, and graduated from the University of Washington. After teaching Junior High English and social studies, in 1972 she enrolled in the first class of the University of Puget Sound School of Law, Tacoma, Washington. Following graduation and admission to the Washington State Bar Association in 1975, she began her legal career with the State of Washington, retiring as an Administrative Law Judge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Candace LeClerc, her brother William, her nephew Noah Clishe, and her dear cat Shandy. She is survived by her beloved companion of many years, Kathleen Houston, by her sister Taya Higgins (Michael), Lopez Island, her brother Casey Clishe (Lisa Rozmyn), Olympia, three nieces, Rachell Lewis (Brian) of Omak, Sarah Higgins Terry (Lyon) of Seattle, and Olivia Candace Clishe of Olympia, and by a nephew, Christopher Martin Roth (Christine) of Olympia. She is also survived by great nephews Colton Whittle, Ryder Lewis, and Calvin Terry, and by great nieces Samantha Cairns Roth and Alexa Terry.
Christine loved her cats and all animals, and planning her high school reunions. She was renowned for being able to find classmates and tenacious in her searches. She also liked genealogy and reading, cooking, playing bridge, holidays, traveling, attending movies and plays, and entertaining friends. Christmas was very special to her; she considered it her time of year because of her Christmas Eve birthday.
A reception in celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Garden Room at Panorama, 1751 Circle Lane, Lacey.
Memorial donations may be made to the Thurston County Animal Shelter, Childrens Hospital, Seattle, or a charity of choice.

We had a lot of enjoyable trips to Ashland for the Shakespeare Festival and a mutually shared love of Christmas. She had a delightful laugh, loved her Sonics and cats.

Although I did not know Chris very long, she became a dear friend who enjoyed her new home, her books, cooking, entertaining and her most beloved cats. Your friends are here to support you at this time of loss.
