Donna Jean Smith Donna Jean Smith, a long-time resident of Olympia, Washington, quietly passed away on Monday evening, the 18th of March 2013 at Puget Sound Healthcare Center. She was surrounded by loved ones, friends from St. Martin's University and a very special friend of all of us, Kris Salmon. Donna was born in Tacoma, Washington on June 3, 1946, the daughter of Anthony and Margery Sienko. She was married to Donald Smith on February 29, 1980. She began working for St. Martin's University as the Abbey Accountant in 1991 where she worked until her passing. Donna is survived by her Spouse, Donald Smith of Olympia, WA; Daughter, Krista (Eric) Herman of Auburn, WA; Dog, Oly Bud of Olympia, WA; Mother, Margery Sienko of Tacoma, WA; Brothers, Anthony (Vicki) Sienko of Covington, WA and Joseph Sienko (Nell) of Williamsburg, VA; Sister, Patricia Sexton of Milton, DE; Sisters in law, Carol (Norm) Nunnally of Everett, WA; Mardell Smith of Kodiak, AK and Maxine Smith of FL; and an extended family and large group of friends who brought her many years of joy, laughter and love. Donna always had her camera in hand, enjoyed visiting Washington State beaches, walking and running in local marathons, going to the movies and walking her beloved dog Oly around Capitol Lake. She was especially proud of her finisher's medal in the Portland Marathon. She spent many years offering her different talents to the YMCA to teach Silver Sneakers and writing for a variety of magazines. Her wonderful smile and kind spirit filled every room with light and love. Donna's last request was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered over her favorite beach, Westport, Washington. A service to celebrate Donna's life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at St. Martins Abbey Church, 5000 Abbey Way SE, Lacey, WA 98503. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Martin's Abbey.
