Elizabeth Parsons Obituary

Elizabeth Alice Parsons

Elizabeth (Libby) Parsons passed away on March 14, 2011, at age 50 from acute lymphocytic leukemia. She left far too soon, leaving a hole in our hearts. Libby was born on October 15, 1960, in Seattle, Washington, to Meryl (Gill) Parsons and William Parsons, the third of seven children. Libby grew up in the Tumwater area, graduated from Tumwater High School in 1978, and then received a degree in Psychology from Western Washington University. She was a member of St. Michael Parish.
Libby worked several places before landing at the Washington State Department of Revenue where she advanced to the position of District Compliance Manager. She made many friends there with whom she enjoyed traveling and other social activities. Libby cherished these friendships and they enriched her life.
Libby enjoyed gardening, traveling, volunteering at Salvation Army, hanging out with her cats, and spending time with friends. But her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a friend and confidant to her siblings and she loved each and every one of her nieces and nephews.
Libby was witty, opinionated, kind, generous, and a woman of strong convictions. She was a pillar of strength to her brothers and sisters and a favorite among her nieces and nephews. Libby was a bright light in our lives with her beaming smile and witty sense of humor. We will forever remember the sound of her laughter and the smile on her face. She will be so greatly missed by us all.
Libby was preceded in death by her mother and father whom she now joins in heaven. She is survived by her siblings Judy Parrish (Jim Zygar), Theresa Parsons, Lew Parsons (Toby), Mara Peterson, Ron Parsons (Teresa), and Bruce Parsons; nieces and nephews, Isaac and Jacob Larson and great-nephew Brady Larson; Ryan, Amanda, Brooke, Chad, and Nathan Parsons; Emily, Catherine, and Jeannine Peterson; Ali Peller, great-niece Lexie Peller; and many extended family members. She also leaves behind her beloved kitty cats, Moon and Suki.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, 11th and Boundary, Olympia, WA, at noon on Friday, April 1, 2011. It will be followed by a reception at the Scott Lake Community Center located at 2631 114th Way SW, Olympia, WA. We welcome you to share memories at www.funeralalternatives.org. Arrangements are with Funeral Alternatives of Washington 360-753-1065.

Our condolences for a life cut short way too soon. We have fond memories of many get togethers in Key Center, Lakebay & Longbranch. The great logging shows and Libby trying to control her brothers. Lots of fun stories of survival with the family

Libby was a dear friend, she always knew how to cheer you when you were down. She helped me at the community kitchen and we would go to the movies and dinner with another friend. We will really miss you my dear friend. My prayers and thoughts are with the family as they mourn a wonderful person. Alberta Quinlan

My heart goes out to the entire Parsons family. I have some very fond memories of playing softball with Libby at Scott Lake. One of the warmest, funniest people I've ever known, and she will be greatly missed.

Friendship can not be measured in time, but with quality.
Libby and I were friends for only a short time. But the time we spent was entirely full of laghter and good fun. Philosophy and food.
Her laugh and smile I will carry in my heart and mind for ever.
Till we meet again. Pete S. (Tumwater)
