Elsie Maurine Scheel Elsie passed into God's loving arms on April 14, 2013 in her home in Tenino. She was born on May 28, 1928 in Centralia to Elvin L. and Nellie F. (Dodd) Barnes. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1946 then attended St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in one of their last classes in 1949 as a Registered Nurse. Elsie worked on the surgery team at Centralia General Hospital until she married Donald G. Scheel on August 12, 1951. They moved to Olympia where she started working at St. Peter's Hospital, working her way up to Night Supervisor until her retirement in 1988. Elsie is survived by 3 children, Ron (Betsy) Scheel, Cyndie Stevens, and Connie (Joe Moore) Scheel; 4 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 1 sister, Margie Wallace; 1 sister in law, Pat Scheel; many nieces and nephews and many, many friends, who she always thought of as part of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; 1 sister, Phylis Campbell; 1 sister in law, Enna Scheel; 5 brothers in law, Dick Scheel, David Scheel, Clarence Campbell, Glenn Franks, and Frank Wallace; 1 son in law, Dennis Stevens; and 2 nephews, Terry Franks, and Robin Franks. A memorial service for Elsie will be held on May 26, 2013 at 3 pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Tenino with a Celebration of Life following in the Fellowship Hall.
