Elvin Sievert Obituary

Elvin Carl Sievert (Whitey)

Passed away May 24, 2011 at the age of 82 at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, AZ. He was born June 10, 1928 in Monroe, WA to John and Elly Sievert (Lafrenz).
Dad served in the Navy from Jan 1946 to November 1947, and was honorably discharged as a Fireman First Class. He spent most of his career working in the logging industry. An accident forced him to change careers with the Port of Olympia, and that is where he retired from in 1990. He spent the last 20 years living in Phoenix and Mayer, AZ.
He was preceded in death by Lois Sievert (Katon), his wife of 42 years, in 1990. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry, in 1993, and daughter Vicky in 1953. He is survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild soon to be born. All of his brothers and sisters preceded him in death, Hank, Betty, Dorothy, and Helen. He is also survived by two very special nieces, Patsy and Jamie and their families in Arizona, who made sure Dad wasn't alone on holidays.
Surviving are sons Richard of Tenino, James, Steven, and Mark of Olympia. Daughters surviving are Sharon Depo (Jim) of Shelton, Linda Bennett (Mike) of Olympia, Kathy Palmer (Gene) of Olympia, Carol Conine (Herb) of Wasilla, AK, Lori Boaz of Elmira Heights, NY, Patty Sievert of Olympia, and Nancy Gaddy (Dennis) of Enumclaw.
There will be no funeral services. The family will gather at a later date to scatter his ashes at sea as that was his request.
