Jill Nunez Obituary

Jill Louise Nunez

Jill passed away on April 19, 2011 in Tacoma. Jill was born into the world on October 20, 1966 in Olympia, Washington to Joanne and Jack Nunez. She attended McKinley Grade School, Washington Middle School and graduated from Olympia High School in 1985. In grade school Jill played softball, and continued playing through junior high with her Dad coaching alongside. In high school she loved being part of the track team and continued running for many years. Jill also enjoyed snow skiing during those years. She attended Tacoma Community College and Washington State University in Pullman, and spent one year in Morelia, Mexico studying Spanish and anthropology. While spending summers at home in Olympia, she worked at Tumwater Athletic Club and in the pro shop at Tumwater Golf Course. In 1991, Jill went to work for the State of Washington, where she worked for nineteen years. She especially enjoyed her time at the Dept. of Natural Resources and her involvement with the wildfire protection program and the fire fighting teams.
Jill was fun-loving and was always willing to do or try anything. Her favorite place was Hawaii and she spent her vacations there for the past eight years, snorkeling, paragliding, kayaking, sightseeing and enjoying Mai Tais. Jill had a generous heart and was known for her bright smiles that would light up a room. She loved all animals, but the loves of her life were her dog, Ellie, and her cat, Sammy Jo.
Jill leaves behind parents, Joanne and Jack; her beloved sister, Judy, brother-in-law Alex; nephew, Adam Pinedo; grandfather, Jay Arney; best friend, Jeff Krasch; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear, sweet friends. Jill was preceded in death by her grandmother and grandfather Nunez, and her grandmother, Louise Arney.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m., Mills and Mills (5725 Littlerock Rd.), with reception following at River's Edge (4611 Tumwater Valley Dr).
Contributions can be made to Adopt-A-Pet in Shelton (www.adoptapet-wa.org) or to Stanford Bipolar Disorders Clinic (bipolar.stanford.edu). Our special thanks to our loving friends and family for all their help, thoughtfulness and endless support. Jill will always be just a prayer away.

May today's sorrow give way to the peace and comfort of God's love.
We extend our deepest sympathy. You are in our thoughts and prayers. ~ Love, Ann Marie, Todd, and family

Jill's smile was bright and she was a very good friend during our middle school & high school years! I'm sorry that I didn't see more of her after high school. I read what she wrote in my high school annual, so sweet! Jill, thank you for being such a sweet girl, you will be missed. I'll happily make a donation to Stanford in your name.
