John Swidecki Obituary

John Melvin Swidecki

John Melvin Swidecki, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed peacefully on March 26, 2011, at age 82, to his eternal life with the Lord.
Born to Dorothy and John J. Swidecki on March 20, 1929, in Flint, MI., he was raised by his grandmother and went to school in Flint, until Sept. of 1946, when he went into the US Navy. While serving in San Francisco, he worked on the ship used in the atomic bomb testing at Bikini Atoll.
After being discharged from the Navy, he came to Olympia, and finished his high school education at Olympia High School in June of 1951.
On October 1, of that same year, he married the love of his life, Pauline Roy, at St. Michael's Church. They lived happily together for 59 1/2 years.
After 34 years, he retired from Fort Lewis as Supervisor of Engineering technicians. John's love of electronics carried over as a hobby, as he loved to work on anything with his hands and was always up to a challenge. John was eager to learn.
John is survived by his wife, Pauline; three sons and one daughter, Joseph and wife Alana of Napavine; Robert, and wife Alice of Tenino; Thomas of Olympia; and Teresa Leech and husband Bob, also of Olympia; 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life service, Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Black Lake Bible Camp located at 6521 Fairview Rd. SW, Olympia, WA 98512. To leave memories of John or offer condolences to the family, you may visit:

To John's family and friends: We are praying that the Lord will comfort you, give you peace, and fill you with His love and grace during this difficult time. May John's Celebration of Life be a time to reflect on the special ways that John has touched your life, and how blessed we all are in knowing him. Pauline and family,
He is gone in body, but very much with us in spirit. Just look around us, the family lives on in all of you and so does he. Love you all!
