Klara Maria Rice After a long complicated relationship with her cancer, Klara Maria Rice passed away in her Olympia, Washington home on March 26, 2013. Klara is survived by: her husband, Timothy Rice of Olympia, Washington; her father, Herbert Okrongly of Davis California; and relatives in Hungary and the Ukraine. She was born in the Bronx, New York, and lived there for her first 11 years. She then lived mostly in California. She had lived in Olympia for the last 8 years, and touched many people at the City of Olympia, where she worked. She loved music both making it and listening to it. She said that her mother taught her to read music before she taught her to read words. She loved clothingits color, its feeland couldn't properly dress until she had divined the "color of the day." She always threw herself into preparing food for friends and family. She enjoyed bicycling, and any opportunity to walk in nature or backpack into the mountains. She loved animals, especially her pet chickens, and generally gravitated towards any kind-hearted people. An informal memorial service will be held at 1 pm, Saturday April 13, at Priest Point Park. Donations can be made to the "Klara Rice Memorial Fund" at Timberland bank.
