Maurice Hemness Obituary

Maurice Joseph Hemness

Maurice Joseph Hemness went to be with the Lord on January 21, 2011.
He was born October 14, 1925 in Hoven, South Dakota to Joseph and Anna Hemness. Maurice is survived by his brother, Bob Hemness, and his children, Jeff Hemness, Maurine Evans, Nancy DeArmond, Greg Beldo, Guy Beldo and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hemness, mother, Anna Hemness, brother, Clayton Hemness, and sister Lucille Connolly.
A WWII Navy veteran, Maurice served as an electrician on the U.S.S. Hope medical ship. Following the war, he and brother Clayton, a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, went into the house building business together.
Their many beautifully built homes in the greater Olympia area are a lasting tribute to their skill and love of building. Maurice also had a great love and appreciation of cars, boats, motorcycles and anything that went fast. He loved horses and animals of all kinds, often taking in a stray cat or two. He was even known to take in a fellow sojourner down on his luck and give him shelter.
May God welcome Maurice into His Kingdom and give "him" shelter in His Everlasting Love. Amen.
Please send donations to the Thurston County Humane Society.
