Perfecto B. Martin 4/1/29 4/10/14 Perfecto (Pepe) B. Martin, 85, died peacefully, surrounded by his immediate family, on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia. Born April 1, 1929 in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines to Hermogenes T. Martin and Teresa A. Bascos, he is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 60 years, Leonida Casanova Martin; and children, Roland (Charito), Rosemarie (Diosdado), Ranielle (Scott); beloved grandchildren, Jordan (Vanessa), Justin, Christopher, Michael, Shanelle, and Jacob. He was the second oldest to six siblings, Helen, David (deceased), Arturo, Venus, and Esther. He was a consistent honor student at Urdaneta HS and in college. Perfecto was Editor in Chief of his HS newspaper and graduated Valedictorian with a BS in Education (English Major), then earned a MA Degree in Educational Management at Pangasinan State University. He was an Elementary Teacher for 20 years, and High School Principal. He immigrated to the USA on June 8, 1978; petitioned by brother-in-law, Raymond Rosario (deceased), and sister Helen Rosario. Perfecto worked with the Department of Personnel in Olympia as a Clerk Typist; was promoted to Administrative Assistant with the Energy Crisis Assistance Program, then worked as Medical Claims Examiner, and also served as Facilities Manager for DSHS. After 16 years of State service, he retired, at age 66, in January, 1995. His hobbies were reading, writing, listening to music, gardening, and watching TV. Perfecto loved bonding with his 6 grandchildren, driving them to and from school and watching them play sports. He was an active and devoted Catholic parishioner for 36 years and served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and Hospitality Minister at St. Michael's Church. Perfecto is remembered as a very generous man and was always willing to help. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014, 3:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. Michael's Church at 12:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mills & Mills Funeral Home, in Tumwater. The Martin family is profoundly grateful for the compassionate, loving care received from St. Peter's Hospital and Panorama City. We thank our families and friends for their love and support through this difficult time.
