Richard A. Camus

Richard A. Camus of Olympia, WA passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the young age of 85. He was born on September 4, 1925 in Portland, OR to Morris and Anna (Weber) Camus. As a young man he served his country in WWII on a submarine with the US Navy before being honorably discharged in 1946. He then turned his attention to the timber industry where he worked for many years until retiring. Richard was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who enjoyed life to the fullest. He was married to Lois C. (Swanson) Camus for 62 long years, raising a family and spending most of his life in the Steamboat Island area. He is survived by his wife, four sons (Daniel, Ronald, Robert, and Richard), fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 25 from 11:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Forest Funeral Home, 2501 Pacific Ave SE, Olympia. A memorial gathering is to follow the viewing at the Steamboat Island Prosperity Grange at 3:00 p.m. All those who would like to pay their respects are invited.

Mrs. Camus and Family,

I was sad when Ron told me of Mr. Camus's passing. My many memories of you all bring a smile. May all your wonderful memories bring you comfort and peace.

Our family will always remember Uncle Dick and his love for family.
Especially his special way with children. He will be missed. God bless all of you at this difficult time.
