Roger was so kind to my daughter, Kelbe, as she learned to team pen and ranch sort. She's so worried about Cowboy and how he'll be without Roger. Our thoughts are with all of Roger's family, both natural born and those that are at the stables for riding, penning and sorting.

Roger, we only met once or twice but I always found you to be a kind and generous soul. You were a treasure from God because you shared your wealth without any expectations. I hope that Gods grace shines upon you and his everlasting light guided you to heaven to bask in His glory. Thank you for your gifts here on Earth and Bless you for carrying out Gods plan. May God forgive you for your sins and except you for who you are, Amen.

Roger, you welcomed everyone to your arena like long awaited friends. You were the perfect host making sure everyone had a good time and you even rode with us when we needed a teammate. We always joked about our "special bond". I will never forget you and all you did for me at a very low point in my life. You said it was no big deal but to me it was immense. I hope you know that. You will never be forgotten.

roger....you are going to be very missed. You have taught me so much bout life and having a good attitude...you were always so positive, caring, and so so smart. You are one of the toughest, strongest cowboys I know. You have always been there for me and my family, boy troubles, and life questions....I'm always going to remember your big smile on your face during Saturday night pennings and your dedication to the farm! Love and miss you tons!

I cant even think of the right words to say. I only had the opportunity and blessing of knowing Roger for about 6 years, and I wish I could have known him longer. But, for it only being a short time, he treated me like one of his own and I will never forget that. He used to watch me ride, give me pointers, and told me I was a "damn good rider". I was still new at the M then, and I didn't realize the value of those words coming from that man. I realize it now. I cannot bear to think what it will be like to go to the barn and not be able to sit in the office and talk with him for an hour after my ride. Or how this summer will be, since spending time at the barn with him was one of my favorite things, even when I was helping get hay out of the field in 90 degree heat. He felt like family to me and I feel a huge emptiness with his passing. My condolences to the family, thank you for sharing him with the rest of us.

Roger,
We started 1st grade together and went all through high school together. You were always a friend. I remember when I couldn't spell a word in 4th grade and you kept whispering the answer to me. We were sweethearts in high school and friends throughout the years. Thank you for your friendship and good memories. You will be missed. I send my sympathy to all of your family. They were always very kind to me. Sincerely, Carol (Dewing) La Grassa

Many remember Roger for his horsemanship activites. We will also remember him for the many kind giving things he did: Buying school clothes for needy friend's kids new school year, giving troubled youths a break with a job, loaning his horses to others many times, caring for his senior aged relatives with a summer luncheon as a yearly tradition,( we had one 90 yrs old on our hayride wagon), being there without hesitation to help( on a Easter Sunday bringing his equipment to remove a fallen tree off of our house and refusing any payment) picking up the tab on outings with the drill teams, etc. You all know what a true giving person he could be. God speed, Roger. You will never be forgotton as a very special person and one we all were forunate to have known.

Littlerock and the horse world (and the Ellensburg Rodeo) will not be the same without Roger. He truly is one of the last REAL cowboys. He had such a good heart, he lived life to the fullest, and he brought a smile to many a face. I haven't forgotten the kind things he did for me when things were 'down'. He's joined the Ghost Riders in the Sky. Happy Trails Roger!

In memory of a great friend and neighbor I wrote this poem for Roger, See ya Cowboy.
THE LAST COWBOY RIDE I SEE
The last cowboy ride I see will be my horse and me. We rode the rodeo we rode the trails my horse and me. We'll pass by all the cowboy friends we made along the way my horse and me. We'll ride the dusty trail my horse and me. Now we're riding the last trail home my horse and me. Don't be sad for my horse and me but look for the trail of dust in the sky, that's where you'll see my horse and me. When you remember me you'll always remember my dog Pepper, my horse and me. So now I bid my family and friends ado until we meet on the next dusty trail, my horse an me.
