Timothy Seth Obituary

Timothy Michael Seth Tim Seth was born in Seattle, Washington on February 13, 1937 to Dr. Raymond E. Seth and Helen (Wiesner) Seth; and died in Seattle on October 3, 2016 of heart failure while recovering from cancer surgery. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Donna Durelle Seth of Olympia; his brother, Raymond E. Seth Jr. of Minnesota; and the blended family of children, Marie Weiner (Adam) of San Mateo, California and Carolyn Buttafoco (Ralph) of Gig Harbor, Washington, Louise Beckett Lasch (Tom), Earl Scott Beckett, and Frederick Alan Beckett; of grandchildren, Stephanie and Andrew Weiner, Melissa and Annalise Buttafoco, Aimee Erickson, David Jones, Paris Tuggle, Jackson Beckett, and Kass, James and Adam Lasch,; and seven great-grandchildren. Tim graduated from Washington State University with an engineering degree, but ultimately pursued a career in the field of human resources. Most of his employment career was with the State of Washington, and particularly the Higher Education Personnel Board. After taking an early retirement from the State, Tim actively pursued full-time his long-standing interest in real estate, and rental property investment and development. Tim founded and served as the Executive Officer of the Washington Landlord Association now the largest landlord association in the State. He actively worked in conjunction with the State Legislature on laws pertaining to landlord/tenant relationships. His past public service included Chair of the Thurston County Housing Authority, project lead for State WAC personnel law development, staff for the Washington Executive Salary Commission, member the Washington Comparable Worth Committee, AG designated advisory contact for rental owners calling the Washington Attorney General's Office, and many public and private housing ad hoc committees. Tim was an avid philatelist, who enjoyed working on his stamp collection while being surrounded by his family and listening to the sounds of his grandchildren playing. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved spending time camping with his family. Tim had a great love of music especially classical piano, as well as traveling, astronomy, and spending time with friends. He got great joy and comfort from his many pets, which he referred to as the "critters". Funeral and remembrance ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Olympia, followed by burial services at Woodlawn Memorial in Lacey.

His sacrificial contributions as he helped Mom and Pop Landlord will not be forgotten, and his excellent leadership skills have left behind a difficult pair of shoes to fill.

Tim I always admired your steadfast dedication to helping small landlords survive in the Rental Property Industry. Your selfless contributions to our industry will be remembered. Thanks for sponsoring so many fun landlord trips to Hawaii, Mexico and other great destinations. Now that you are on your final trip just wanted you to know that you will not be forgotten.
