James D. Cyr

James D. Cyr, 58, of Pittsfield, Mass, formerly of Plainville, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013, at home.
Born Aug. 23, 1954, in Waterbury, to the late Renee Cyr and the late Lillian (Goulden) Screen.

Jim attended Plainville schools and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1972 and traveled the U.S. and Japan. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, a Lifetime member of the Bass Federation and never missed an opportunity to fish. He loved gardening and was a car enthusiast. Always had a fascination for how things worked and never missed watching and cheering on his favorite team the New England Patriots (#54). He always greeted everyone with a handshake and a smile. He will be remembered for his quick wit, sometimes-sarcastic tone and his love for his special "candy" from his girls.

He leaves to cherish his memory six children, Jennifer Cyr- Ruot (Brian), James Jr. (Crystal) and their mother, Sue (Racine), of Plainville. Adam, Abbey, Carmen, and Cori and their mother, Lori (Kramer), of Southington; his grandchildren, Joelle, Morgan, Tyler, Rileigh, Kamryn, and Adam Jr. He was looking forward to meeting his first great-granddaughter due in October. He is also survived by his sister, Martha Saylor (Melvin Sr.), of Windsor and his brother, Arthur Screen, of Plainville; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Jim's life on Sunday, July 21, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by Military Honors at Burritt Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Webster Bank, 51 East Main St., Plainville, CT 06062.
