PLAINVILLE - Marjorie (Stewart) Listro, 92, of Plainville, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014, following a brief illness. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 59 years, Frank, who predeceased her in December.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Round Top, N.Y., on Feb. 22, 1922, Marjorie was one of two children to the late David and Myrtle (Yeadon) Stewart. Raised in New York, she relocated to Connecticut, working for Stanley, where she met Frank and later for G.E. They raised their children in Plainville, and upon her retirement, Marjorie took great pride in helping to care for her grandchildren. A longtime member of the VFW, she was past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, and shared many years traveling with her family. She enjoyed spending as much of her time as possible outdoors, especially by the beach, going boating, clamming and enjoying her morning cup of coffee in the back yard. The matriarch of her family, she was the ultimate caregiver to all, and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons, Willard Rivenburg and his wife, Doris, of Round Top, N.Y., Paul and his wife, Joanne, of Southington, David and his fiance, Carmel Gondek, of Westbrook; and Adeline Listro and Leona Diemasevitch, whom she loved as daughters; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, William Stewart.
Funeral services in celebration of Marjorie's life were held on Thursday, May 8, from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Committal services were followed at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VFW, 7 Northwest Drive, Plainville, CT 06062.
