VAN AGTEREN-DE BOER, Anje Catharina
December 3, 1917 - November 27, 2012
Our Oma passed away just days before her 95th birthday. She and our Opa Jan (1925-1994) left Holland in 1958, and settled in Tsawwassen after living in Guatemala, Kenya and Egypt. Oma's undaunting spirit and her great imagination carried her throughout her life. She inspired us with her reverence of nature; she taught us the importance of fitness and health and made us laugh over many cups of tea. We loved her unique brand of Dutch "gezelligheid" which she maintained in the warm family home where we were always welcomed with her unique enthusiasm and lots of goodies. She was immensely proud of us and always showered us with praise, which could get kind of embarrassing in front of our friends! Our Oma was lovingly cared for by our parents Juliette (John McCorquodale) and Roderick (Vicki Elliott) as well as the wonderful caregivers in the Kinsmen Assisted Living Centre, Delta Hospice and at Westshore Laylum where she lived her last few months. Family was Oma's constellation, and she was our little, unforgettable, shining star. A Celebration of her Life will be held in the New Year. Andrew, Alex and Anneke McCorquodale, Gerad and Ayla van Agteren.
