Arthur AULINE

AULINE, Arthur Goodfield Christiansen
January 27, 1923 - March 14, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Arthur Auline, of New Westminster, B.C. on March 14, 2013 at Royal Columbian Hospital. Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen, on March 15, 1994 and his son, Graham, on July 26, 2010. Arthur was born in Powell River, B.C. where he met his future wife, Kathleen. He joined the Navy on October 2, 1941 and dutifully served overseas on many naval ships until November 9, 1945. Arthur married Kathleen on January 25, 1946, started his career as an electrician, then settled in New Westminster, where he started a long career as Foreman for Canadian Forest Products in the Hardboard Division, retiring in 1982. He then worked for many years as a Commissionaire on Granville Island in Vancouver. Owner of an antique store called the Sampler Shop, Arthur was well known for his talent in refinishing antique furniture. His love for fishing was something he cherished as he and his children spent 25 wonderful years fishing Active and Porlier Pass in the Gulf Islands from 1968 to 1993. Arthur's fishing skills were not only passed on to his children and grandchildren, but to many others who spent time on the water with him. Arthur will be greatly missed by his son David and partner Yvonne; his daughter Betty-Anne and husband Blair; his daughter-in-law Pauline; grandchildren Tara-Leigh and John, Darren and Melissa, Amy and Wayne, Jaclyn and Keith; great- grandchildren Alexis, Isabella, Austin, and Charlie; and his many relatives and friends in Powell River and the Lower Mainland. Special thanks to his lifelong close friend, Betty, for being his travelling companion for many years, to neighbours Donna and Don for always checking on him to make sure he had everything he needed to live a happy and comfortable life, the staff at RCH (Emergency Ward), Fraser Health Home Support workers, and DVA. No service at Arthur's request. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
