CASWELL, Barbara
Age 78. Died peacefully after a long battle with serious memory loss. Barbara was a 58-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star having joined Saskatoon Chapter #4 (Honorary Life Member) in 1954. A former officer of Ruth Chapter #3 (Pocatello, Idaho), Barbara joined Royal City Chapter #7 (New Westminster) in 1976 where she was Worthy Matron three times and Worthy Grand Matron (1996-1997). The help and support of Eastern Star members, allowing her to be as active as she was, is gratefully appreciated. Barbara loved to travel having visited many US states, Europe, South America, The Caribbean, the South Pacific and driven across Canada. She was often found with knitting needles or crochet hook in hand; the stockings she made hang on her children's and grandchildren's mantles every Christmas and her afghans have been enjoyed by many. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Dick; her children David (Marleen), Bruce (Donna), Margaret (Martin), Craig (Lyn); her grandchildren Elizabeth (Jonathan), Ryan (Missy), Leslie, Laura, Kevin, Trevor, Alex and Jessica; her great-grandchildren Brennan, Phoenix and Micah; her extended family and many friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Q. Wasti, as well as the wonderful nurses, care aides and staff at Holyrood Manor for their devoted care. A Celebration of Barbara's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 8, 2013, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 12145 Laity St., Maple Ridge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Cancer Foundation (OES Fund) [] or the Alzheimer Society [] would be appreciated.
