David Fyfe Moir

David Fyfe Moir October 19, 1916 - November 27, 2012 Capt. D. F. Moir passed away at the age of 96. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, David immigrated to Canada at a young age, and spent most of his life in the Vancouver area. Independent at age 15, David knew the meaning of hard work, delivering milk and working on a farm near Sea Island Airport (YVR). Intrigued by the passing of planes overhead, he used his hard earned money for flying lessons. Dave would embark on a successful 34 year flying career with TCA/Air Canada retiring in 1976 on the Boeing 747. Dave was passionate about flying. He enjoyed 63 years of marriage to Mary-Gordon Moir. As a young man, he played lacrosse, was a long time golfer,and enjoyed walking. He also enjoyed fine art and travel. With his many interests, winning smile and sense humor Dave was a good friend to many. He was a charter member of Aviation Lodge N. 175 B.C.David is survived by his wife, Mary -Gordon, sons; Stuart (Elizabeth), Bruce (Gayle), Christopher (Gayle A.), Ken (Jackie), Phillip (Philippa)and seven grandchildren, Graham, Ian, Sarah, Alex, Heather, Spencer and Logan. A memorial service will be held at RyersonUnited Church, 2195 45th Ave W, Vancouver British Columbia on Wednesday December 5th 2012 at 2pm.Donations may be made to Salvation Army in David's honor.
