Dorothy NAIRNE

NAIRNE, Dorothy
Born March 12, 1924, died peacefully in her sleep at North Shore Hospice on November 21, 2012. Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Ron, and survived by four children, Suzanne, Elizabeth, David and Ron and by seven grandchildren. Born and raised in Vancouver, Dorothy attended Crofton House School before graduating from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts. Married in 1948, Dorothy and her family lived in North Vancouver then moved to West Vancouver in 1963 where she continued to live until her passing. She was a tireless and committed volunteer with a wide range of interests and a great deal of energy, drive and determination. She volunteered for many organizations including Gordon Neighbourhood House, the Vancouver Aquarium, the Canadian Figure Skating Association and the Community Arts Council of B.C. Dorothy was a passionate patron of the arts and an enthusiastic supporter of the Vancouver Opera, Ballet BC and the Vancouver Symphony Society where she was a well known volunteer for many years. She spent most summers at her beloved cottage at Granthams Landing where she loved to swim and garden. Also very involved in the Sunshine Coast community, she volunteered at the Gibson's Art Gallery and the Sunshine Coast Arts Council at Sechelt. Dorothy continued to bring her strong opinions, unique perspective and generosity to these organizations. She will be remembered and missed by many. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
