DOROTHY SIMPSON

SIMPSON, Dorothy Bernice
April 19, 1927 – December 5, 2012
With great sadness we announce the death of Dorothy Simpson, aged 85, of Surrey B.C. Survived by husband Crawford, sons Scott, Graham and Murray, grandchildren Alexandra, Sean, Liam, Julia and Katherine, sister-in-law Gwen Trapp, nephews Kevin and Derek and many other treasured cousins, nephews, nieces and relatives as well as lifetime friend Betty North. Predeceased by her brother, Harold Trapp. Dorothy was born in Toronto in 1927, graduated from Riverdale Collegiate in 1945 and married Crawford in 1954. After moving west in 1963, Dorothy spent 20 years as an elementary school secretary in Burnaby, where she attended St. Matthews United Church. After retiring in 1987 she devoted her spare time to the research and writing of a monumental genealogy and family history that reaches back to the 14th century and endures as the family's most treasured legacy. Her exceptionally sharp mind was undiminished to the end, as was her devotion to family and her unconditional love for Crawford. She taught us the value of common sense and thrift, and the rewards of hard work. The family thanks nursing staff at Surrey Memorial and Queens Park, and Dr. Edmund Low. Memorial planned for January 12, 2013 at Valley View Funeral Home in Surrey.
