Virginia BURDEN

BURDEN, Virginia
Our much adored mom, grandma, and great- grandmother Virginia died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of Feb. 12, age 92. Born in Vancouver and lived most of her life in the Lower Mainland, she died at Eagle Ridge Manor in Port Moody where she had been a resident since 2009. Predeceased by Roy, her loving husband of 63 years (2005), her daughter Lynne, (2003) grandson Russell Harford (age 4), and great grandson Braeden Fairley (age 6). Mom is survived by her daughter Dianne (Ken) Harford, her four grandchildren Bree (Mark), Alex (Tracy), Megan Jane (Reg) and Skye, and her 7 great grandchildren Russell, Adam, Hunter, Michael, Emily, Matthew, and Andrew. Mom delighted in their hugs and kisses when they visited and loved to look at their photos in her room. Virginia and Roy were able to escape the winter and travel to Desert Hot Springs and then to their summer trailer in Birch Bay. The grand children spent many weekends visiting and being spoiled with beach time with Roy and eating grandma's famous chocolate chip cookies. Mom was dedicated to her family and home where she cooked roasts and apple pies to perfection and kept a spotless house while also working outside the home. She loved to knit and sew and provided us with a nurturing and safe childhood. Thanks to the staff at Eagle Ridge Manor for their gentle care and kindness shown to mom during her stay and to her friend Joyce whose visits will be treasured. No formal service will be held but the family will gather at a later date to celebrate Virginia's life. In lieu of flowers a donation to BC Children's hospital would be appreciated.
