Andrew Johanan (John) Snellman October, 1917 - November, 2012 John passed away just 19 days past his 95th birthday. He is predeceased by his wife, Myra (2007) and daughter, Shirley Fullerton (2011); survived by daughter, Julia Ewert; sister, Fanny Knutsen; grandchildren: Andrew, Dennis, Christine and Randal; and seven great grandchildren. John was born at Haysport on the banks of the Skeena River, from which he earned his living as a "highliner" (top producer) fisherman from the age of 13 to 65. He lived a rugged life, cared deeply for his family, loved to eat the bounty of his harvest, and absolutely loved a beer or two. He raised his family in Port Essington and Prince Rupert, settled in Courtenay where he eventually retired. John moved to Simpson Manor in 2007; the family would like to thank his caregivers for their kindness and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be held from noon until 2:00 PM on December 15th, at 60-18181 68th Avenue, Surrey, B.C.
