Barrie Clark

Nov. 17, 1932 - Mar. 16, 2018

Barrie Aird Clark (85) passed away March 16, 2018 after a brief illness. Barrie was a well known radio personality and politician. He began his career as a radio announcer in 1949 and had the first open line program. His keen interest in politics led him to become a councillor for the District of North Vancouver in 1963, an MLA for North Vancouver-Seymour district in 1966, Rentalsman for the Attorney General in 1973, and Kelowna City councillor in 1999. Barrie is predeceased by his wife Igna and sister Ruth. He is survived by his sister Cathie; children Janet, Geoff, Rick and Kevin; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was an open minded, compassionate and caring man who was intensely proud of his family. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for creating a world which set their imaginations alight, his rich baritone voice and his candid manner. Barrie will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the staff at Churchill House for all their support and the amazing team at Lions Gate Hospital for their compassionate care. No service per request. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lions Gate Hospital Foundation.
